29 August 2025 – 31 August 2025
North Wales

For our winter trips in north Wales (usually November and February) we’ll be based in Snowdonia. When the rivers are running we’re spoilt for choice with grade 3/4 classics such the Conwy, Ogmore, Mawdacch, Aberglaslyn gorge and Wnion within easy reach, as well as good beginner options such as the Llugwy and Upper Glaslyn. When the levels are low, and typically in the summer we’ll often paddle the Tryweryn and Dee.

Accommodation

For this trip, we’ll be staying at the Ty Isaf Campsite. This super friendly campsite is 5 minutes outside Bala – so ideal for the Tryweryn. The campsite owners are very welcoming and allow open fires on the site. They also sell logs, kindling, firelighters and locally sourced meat too.

We’ll book out an area of the campsite for the group and collect camping fees from people at the weekend to hand over to the campsite owners. As with the bunkhouses, no problem at all if you would prefer to arrange your own accommodation.

Experience needed

2 star/British Canoeing Paddle Explore Aware or equivalent standard. Neither previous whitewater experience nor a roll are necessary.

Costs

The cost of weekend is £160 if paddling the weekend, or £240 if also paddling on the Friday too. This is the cost of coaching and does not include accommodation – please see here for more information on costs.
