10th January – 12th January 2025 – North Wales

For our winter trips in north Wales we’ll be based in Snowdonia. When the rivers are running we’re spoilt for choice with grade 3/4 classics such the Conwy, Ogmore, Mawdacch, Aberglaslyn gorge and Wnion within easy reach, as well as good beginner options such as the Llugwy and Upper Glaslyn. When the levels are low, and typically in the summer we’ll often paddle the Tryweryn and Dee.

Accommodation

We always have exclusive use of the bunkhouse so you know that everyone in the bunkhouse is also on the trip. Most people do stay at the bunkhouse, but no problem at all if you would prefer to arrange your own accommodation (in which case the accommodation cost will be taken off the amount you pay).

For this trip, we’ll be staying at the Glan Dwr Mountain Lodge. This bunkhouse is inside Snowdonia National Park and gives us good access to rivers further into Snowdonia. It’s cheap and cheerful with a cosy spacious lounge and good sized kitchen for our Saturday night communal meal.

Experience needed

2 star/British Canoeing Paddle Explore Aware or equivalent standard. Neither previous whitewater experience nor a roll are necessary.
