18th October – 20th October 2024 – South Wales

For our south Wales trips we’ll be based in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. This is gives us good access to rivers in all directions: classics such as the Tawe and Trych to the south, the Wye to the east and the Tywi to the west. We will also have the Usk on our doorstep. If the rivers are dry we also have backup options with the Cardiff Whitewater Centre and surfing on the Gower Pensinsula: the first deginated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the country.

Accommodation

We always have exclusive use of the bunkhouse so you know that everyone in the bunkhouse is also on the trip. Most people do stay at the bunkhouse, but no problem at all if you would prefer to arrange your own accommodation (in which case the accommodation cost will be taken off the amount you pay).

For this trip, we’ll be staying at the Coed Owen Bunkhouse. This bunkhouse is located in the middle of the Brecon Beacons, which gives us maximum flexibility: it’s within reach of all our favourite rivers. The bunkhouse itself is spacious, cosy and warm with good drying facilities and a well equipped kitchen.

Experience needed

2 star/British Canoeing Paddle Explore Aware or equivalent standard. Neither previous whitewater experience nor a roll are necessary.
